Be Your Own Coach is filled with exercises and practices that you can use to coach yourself. In this section we will continue to offer you more practices to work with the ideas in the book.

If you happen to be a corporate coach, these practices will provide you with alternatives to use in coaching courses you may be teaching using our book. You may also use these practices with your in-house coaching clients.

If you are an independent professional coach, you can use these practices as a supplement to the ones offered in the book.








Coaching practice related to the movie Something’s Gotta Give.

Coaching Practice:

  1. Erica’s story about Harry started to change. He had been disgusting to her. His story about her changed as well. He could no longer dismiss her as a love interest because she was older. How does this happen? Choose someone in your life about whom you have a negative story. What is your story about this person? Is there any way that you could imagine thinking something else about this person? Is there any way you could see this person in a new way?
  2. Connection between people can be an interesting happening. Choose someone in your life with whom you would like to build greater connection. What is one thing that you can do to act on your intention? Do that this week. To stay in practice, set an intention each week and follow through on it. Watch the connection grow.
  3. Wake up calls come in all shapes and sizes. Harry’s came in the form of a heart attack. Imagine that life is giving one to you. What would you change in your life? What is one thing you can do to create more of what you want now instead of waiting for a more serious wake up call?
