Be Your Own Coach is filled with exercises and practices that you can use to coach yourself. In this section we will continue to offer you more practices to work with the ideas in the book.

If you happen to be a corporate coach, these practices will provide you with alternatives to use in coaching courses you may be teaching using our book. You may also use these practices with your in-house coaching clients.

If you are an independent professional coach, you can use these practices as a supplement to the ones offered in the book.

Coaching practice related to the movie Little Miss Sunshine.

Coaching Practice:

  1. At least once a day when you are inclined to be ‘right’ and share your ‘right’ opinion, pause, reflect, and decide whether what you want to say will add value to the conversation.
  2. At least once a day, find a way to really ‘see’ the person in front of you. What opens you to compassion for that person?
  3. With loved ones, when you are inclined to ‘talk it out’ ‘convince’ or ‘influence’ in a situation, try instead being quiet and offering your love through a soft touch on the arm or shoulder. Notice what happens for you and for the other person.
