Be Your Own Coach is filled with exercises and practices that you can use to coach yourself. In this section we will continue to offer you more practices to work with the ideas in the book.

If you happen to be a corporate coach, these practices will provide you with alternatives to use in coaching courses you may be teaching using our book. You may also use these practices with your in-house coaching clients.

If you are an independent professional coach, you can use these practices as a supplement to the ones offered in the book.

Coaching practice related to the movie The Legend of 1900.

Coaching Practice:

  1. For the next two weeks, notice what it means for you to feel content. When do you feel content? What supports a feeling of contentment for you? Where does contentment show up in your body?
  2. For the next two weeks, notice your desire to “win.” What are the situations in which you feel compelled to compete and prove yourself, like Jelly Roll Morton does in the piano duel? What drives your competitiveness? When this happens, how close or far away are you from your authentic self? Where does the competitiveness show up in your body?
  3. For the next two weeks, notice when you are living large or living small. What brings about each of these states for you? What do you notice when you are living large? Living small? Where do each of these show up in your body?
